Year 3 Make Merry At Butser Farm
Year 3 Parakeets and Turtles were very lucky to enjoy a wonderful sunny day at Butser Ancient Farm, Open-Air Experimental Archaeology Museum on Friday. They spent the day immersed in the ancient culture listening to stories and tales of the past whilst learning a variety of skills on how to survive and thrive in the medieval society.
An extravaganza of interesting skills such as cordage (making rope out of grass), creating decorative clay beads, making dyes for cloth, writing with quills and ink, designing chalk carving and producing individual runes. Everyone had an amazing time and Year 3 gave the day a double thumbs up!
They weren't the only ones impressed! The Butser Farm Medieval Trainers were wowed by the knowledge and understanding of our Cranmere pupils. Especially how they explained what a 'woad' was and how it was used as an indigo dye, plus their recall of the epic Beowulf Poem. Well Done Year 3! You are fabulous ambassadors for our school.
