Article 2 Of The UN Convention On The Rights Of The Child
Our Year 5 children have been discussing the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Mr Gilbert was incredibly impressed with the written piece from Mia R in Year 5 on Article 2:
Dear Mr Gilbert, I think that the most important right is right number 2. I think that this is the most important right because this one explains that you have the right to be yourself and an individual. By this I mean that this right says that you should be able to have access to all of the rights no matter whether you are tall or short, boy or girl etc. This is exactly how people should be treated, equally.
Another reason to why it is the most important right, is because a child should be able to be protected, be themselves, have a family , have a home. Nobody should ever not be able to have access to these rights. It doesn't matter whether someone is different because that is what makes us special.
Mr Gilbert commented: "I think Mia perfectly captures what this right encompasses. I was extremely impressed with her reflective thoughts on it!"
